brisbane moreton island

Moreton Island is 35 kilometres from Brisbane and is excellent for 4WD sand-driving, camping and water activities. It is possible to visit Moreton Island for a daytrip from Brisbane.

The island is famous for the Tangalooma Resort where daily sunset wild dolphin feeding occurs off the beach. You can also go sand tabogganing down giant sand hills at the Moreton Island Desert.

There are tours available from Brisbane or you can take the ferry from the mainland and hire a self drive 4WD. You can enjoy sailing, fishing, swimming, sea-kayaking, snorkelling and diving on Moreton Island.

Moreton Island is perfect to see turtles, dugongs, dolphins and humpback whales. Deserted beaches offer excellent surfing oppertunities but sharks also like the area.
