The Boondall Wetlands are situated approximately 10 kilometres from the centre of Brisbane and consist of more than 1000 hectares of tidal flats, mangroves, salt marshes and melaleuca wetlands. The wetlands are home to a wide variety of wildlife includng reptiles, butterflies and birdlife. There is also an interpretative display and organised nature walks, moonlight bush walks or bird watch canoe adventures. The Wetlands has a 2 kilometre walking track showing the Nurri Millen Aboriginal Art Totems that symbolise aspects of aboriginal culture. Boondall Wetlands Reserve Gateway |

city botanical gardens |

The City Botanical Gardens were formally established in 1855 along the banks of the Brisbane River. The actual garden is older as it was originally used by convicts for a vegetable garden. Follow the boardwalk along the river to view the protected species of the river's famous mangroves or wander through the avenue of historic fig trees. |
